The 9th Convocation Ceremony of Gujarat Law Society University, held on 20th December 2025, marked a significant milestone in the academic journey of more than 5,000 students from undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes. Hosted on the university’s scenic campus in Ahmedabad, the ceremony was filled with pride and celebration as graduates, their families, faculty members, and distinguished guests came together to honour years of dedication, perseverance, and scholarly achievement.
The ceremony was graced by a distinguished panel of guests, making the occasion even more memorable. The Chief Guest, Shri Surya Kumar Yadav, the renowned Indian cricketer, delivered an inspiring address that deeply resonated with the graduating students. Sharing insights from his personal journey, he emphasized that “success is built on resilience and commitment.” He highlighted the importance of perseverance, discipline, and determination in overcoming challenges and achieving long-term goals. His presence served as a powerful source of motivation, offering students the opportunity to interact with a personality who exemplifies leadership and excellence. Throughout the ceremony, Shri Surya Kumar Yadav actively engaged with students and faculty members, encouraging them to pursue excellence in both their personal and professional lives.
The convocation was further enriched by the address of Shri Sudhir Nanavati, President of Gujarat Law Society University. In his thoughtful speech, he reflected on the unpredictable nature of the real world and stressed the importance of continuous learning. He remarked, “The real world will challenge you in ways you cannot yet foresee. Your ability to continuously learn, adapt, and face those challenges with confidence will be your greatest strength. Stay curious, for in a world that never stops changing, there is no middle ground between staying ahead and falling behind.” His words served as a call to action, urging graduates to remain adaptable, curious, and confident as they move forward in life.
Shri Pankaj Patel, President of Gujarat Law Society, also addressed the graduates, sharing valuable insights on critical thinking, entrepreneurship, and decision-making. Encouraging students to think boldly and act with conviction, he reminded them that they were leaving the university not only with academic qualifications but also with a responsibility to contribute meaningfully to society. He emphasized that failure should be seen not as a setback, but as an essential part of the journey toward success, urging graduates to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth.
The Vice President of Gujarat Law Society University, Shri Devang Nanavati, played a pivotal role in ensuring the successful conduct of the ceremony. He warmly welcomed all dignitaries, guests, and attendees, and facilitated the formal honouring of the Chief Guest as well as the recipients of the Honorary Doctorates. His leadership and meticulous planning ensured the smooth execution of the convocation, contributing significantly to its overall success.
Dr. Chandni Kapadia, Executive Director of Gujarat Law Society University, concluded the sequence of addresses with her encouraging and forward-looking message. She advised graduates to remain prepared for the uncertainties of the future, stating, “As you transition beyond this campus, remember that while timing may not always be within your control, your readiness is.” She emphasized that challenges should be viewed as stepping stones rather than obstacles, inspiring graduates to approach their careers and lives with confidence, resilience, and preparedness.
One of the most significant highlights of the convocation ceremony was the conferring of Honorary Doctorates upon two distinguished personalities—Shri Vijay Chauthaiwale and Shri Siddharth Randeria—in recognition of their exceptional contributions to society. Shri Vijay Chauthaiwale, a prominent figure in foreign affairs and a respected author and scientist, was honoured for his contributions through diplomacy, intellectual thought, and public service. Shri Siddharth Randeria, a celebrated Gujarati actor, director, and writer, was recognized for his remarkable impact on the performing arts and his enduring contributions to the cultural landscape. The conferment of these Honorary Doctorates reflected Gujarat Law Society University’s commitment to acknowledging individuals who have made lasting and meaningful contributions to society.
The ceremony also celebrated academic excellence among students. Forty students were awarded Gold and Silver Medals for their outstanding academic performance. Additionally, 37 doctoral scholars were awarded the Doctor of Philosophy degree, marking the successful completion of years of rigorous research and scholarly dedication. The prestigious Best Student Awards were presented to 40 exceptional students from disciplines including Law, Information Technology, Commerce, Management, and Design, recognizing their holistic excellence and outstanding achievements.
As the convocation drew to a close, the graduates were reminded of the journey that lay ahead.
