Gender Law Clinic, Faculty of Law, GLS University is initiated for reminding people that gender is nothing but a social construction, unchaining all the barriers by promoting gender equity and equality. The vision was to empower and uplift the marginalised and disadvantaged gender in India to live with dignity so that they can contribute as valued partners in sustainable development of the self, families and the nation.
The mission of Gender Law Clinic is to support efforts of the state to create an environment for the disadvantaged gender that is inclusive, free from violence and discrimination and one that promotes their social and economic empowerment by creating awareness amongst them about their rights.
The major objectives of Gender Law Clinic is to provide free legal assistance to the disadvantaged genders of society and generate new knowledge , strengthening the existing literature on gender Studies. The major focus will be to study the role of judiciary in the upliftment of the disadvantaged genders of society and disseminate gender – based information to the concerned stakeholders and to develop the capacity building programs related to empowering the disadvantaged genders.
Keeping this in view Gender Law Clinic, Faculty of Law, GLS University organised “Judicial Colloquium” on March 06, 2022 in regard of “International Women’s Day 2022”. The theme was “Exposed yet Unrevealed : Reflections on Gender equality”. The event had all the sitting Lady Judges of the Supreme Court and the High Court of Gujarat.
