Faculty of Commerce at GLS University successfully organized an inter-school elocution competition under its Young Tarang initiative, commemorating International Youth Day 2025. The competition was conducted in two rounds, the semi-final on 19th August, 2025 and the final on 23rd August, 2025 at the Faculty of Commerce building. The competition invited participation from commerce students of Classes 11 and 12 across reputed schools, with enthusiastic support from parents and teachers who attended in large numbers. The two topics for the competition were “AI: Threat or Opportunity” and “The Relevance of Indian Tradition in the Modern World.” These themes encouraged students to reflect critically on contemporary issues while also valuing cultural identity and heritage.
The semi-final round witnessed the participation of 38 students, who spoke with remarkable clarity, passion, and confidence. The competition was extremely tough, with participants showcasing exceptional oratory and research skills. After much deliberation, the judges selected six finalists.
The semi-final was judged by Ms. Tejal A. Vasavada, a seasoned Outreach Program Leader and former Director of the American Corner (U.S. State Department, Ahmedabad). With over two decades of experience in youth engagement and education, she brought valuable perspective to the event. During her feedback session, Ms. Vasavada praised the participants for their impressive performances and noted how difficult it was to narrow down the finalists given the consistently high standard. She also offered valuable suggestions on refining communication skills, enhancing delivery, and building greater confidence.
The six finalists returned for the finale, delivering powerful and thought-provoking speeches. The event was judged by Ms. Ruhee Parelkar, an accomplished writer and editor who has pursued her academic journey at Durham University, the University of Glasgow, and Duke University. Ms. Parelkar provided constructive criticism to each participant, sharing insights on structuring arguments, improving articulation, and strengthening stage presence. Her detailed feedback offered the students a meaningful learning experience beyond the competition itself.
The elocution competition successfully fostered critical thinking, public speaking, and self-expression among young commerce students while creating a vibrant platform for meaningful intellectual exchange. The seamless execution of the event was made possible under the guidance of the Dean and the dedicated efforts of coordinators Dr. Gitanjali Rampal and Dr. Bhumika Ansodaria.

The participants were given products such as perfume, clothes, marriage bureau services, and others to develop original advertisement concepts. Each team presented their ideas through engaging scripts and lively performances, blending creativity with communication skills. The acts were not only entertaining and engaging but also carried a sense of awareness and mindfulness, making the competition both meaningful and memorable.
