Ideathon 4.0

Ideathon 4.0

FCAIT team comprising Sakshi Chhabria, Anjali Mehta, and Priyanshi Raval secured First Rank in Ideathon 4.0 with their innovative project titled “Sign-to-Speech Glove.” The project was designed to bridge the communication gap for individuals with speech and hearing impairments by converting hand gestures into audible speech using embedded technology.

The Sign-to-Speech Glove is equipped with flex sensors, a microcontroller, a Bluetooth module, and an accelerometer. These components work together to detect hand gestures and movements in real time. The collected data is converted into digital signals and processed by the microcontroller, which then delivers the output as clear, audible speech through a speaker. The solution emphasizes accessibility, inclusivity, and practical application of technology for social good.

Among 65 participating teams, only 20 teams were shortlisted for the semi-finals. The team’s strong technical approach, innovation, and effective presentation enabled them to advance to the finals, where they emerged as First Prize winners.

As a future enhancement, the team plans to integrate machine learning to support broader gesture recognition and enable more natural, free-flowing communication. This achievement highlights the students’ creativity, technical expertise, and commitment to developing impactful solutions to real-world challenges.
