3-Day International Model United Nations (MUN) at GLS FOC

The Faculty of Commerce at GLS University successfully hosted FOC MUN 3.0, a prestigious three-day international Model United Nations (MUN) conference that brought together over 500 delegates from more than 120 schools and colleges across 15 cities in 5 states. The event was an exciting platform for diplomacy, debate, and strategic policy-making.

The event commenced with a vibrant opening ceremony, featuring a Rules of Procedure session to familiarize participants with MUN protocols. The Chief Guest, Mr. Chiranjiv Patel, a renowned entrepreneur, mentor, and changemaker, inspired students with his powerful words. He emphasized that self-confidence and strong relationships are the keys to success, and that the exchange of good ideas is crucial. He also stressed the importance of social welfare, sharing his own contributions to society.

Dr. Dharmesh Shah, Provost of GLS University, motivated students with his thought-provoking message: "Where failure ends, success begins."

He further highlighted the value of good friendships, emphasizing that supportive friends play a crucial role in personal and professional growth.

Under the guidance of an experienced Executive Board, delegates engaged in thought-provoking discussions across multiple high-level committees, addressing some of the world’s most pressing issues.

United Nations & International Committees:

  • UNHRC (United Nations Human Rights Council) – Focused on human rights protection. UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) – Addressed environmental conservation and sustainability.
  • UNGA DISEC (Disarmament & International Security Committee) – Debated global security and disarmament.
  • UNGA ESS (Economic & Social Summit) – Explored economic development and social welfare.
  • ECOSOC (Economic & Social Council) – Discussed economic policies and social advancements.
  • UNCSW (United Nations Commission on the Status of Women) – Advocated for women’s empowerment.

Indian Committees:

  • Lok Sabha & Gujarat Legislative Assembly (GLA) – Debated state and national legislative matters.
  • AIPPM (All India Political Parties Meet) – Focused on key political and governance issues.

Specialized Committees:

  • International Press (IP) – Documented debates with journalistic rigor.
  • Dalal Street – AnalySed stock market fluctuations and economic impact.
  • Business Crisis – Explored corporate risk management and strategic solutions.

The final day was filled with engaging committee sessions, where delegates showcased their diplomatic skills, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

The event concluded with a prestigious closing ceremony, where winning delegates were honoured with trophies, certificates, and prizes in recognition of their exceptional contributions to the conference.

FOC MUN 3.0 was a transformative experience, fostering critical thinking, leadership, and global awareness among participants. It successfully provided a platform for young leaders to engage in meaningful discussions, build diplomatic skills, and develop solutions for real-world challenges.
